Orientation 2025 at Chandigarh University’s UP Campus Marked a Grand Beginning for New Students

The orientation program at Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh (CU-UP), India's first AI-augmented multidisciplinary university, began with enthusiastic participation from students, marking a great start for the Schools of Applied Science, Legal Studies, Media Studies, and Pharmacy.

CU-UP was designed to be a catalyst for the transformation of education with AI integration, providing sustainability, healthcare, and innovation, and as such, served to demonstrate the potential of education when fueled by a vision to make a difference in society, a change that inspired the world.

The orientation program welcomed enthusiastic participation of students at the university and provided the newly enrolled students with a profound knowledge of the values of the university, the academic ecosystem, and futuristic opportunities.

The inauguration began with a welcome speech by Dr. Thipendra P. Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, Academic Affairs. He greeted students, parents, and fellow guests and encouraged students to embrace academic excellence and innovation. He talked about the university's outcome-based academic model, the design of the curriculum, and expectations for academic excellence.

The event featured three keynote addresses from distinguished guests:

  • Mr. Manish Nigam, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (Unnao), focused on the importance of legal awareness and civic responsibility.
  • Dr. Naseem Ahmed Siddiqui, Senior Principal Scientist (Scientist F), Head, Business Development & IP Unit, shared insights with students on innovation, patents, and the relevance of research in nation-building.
  • Dr. Amit Shukla, a media professional and academician, discussed the influence of mass communication and digital media in shaping public discourse.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Yadav, Registrar, Chandigarh University UP & Controller of Examination, presented an insightful presentation titled ‘University at a Glance,’ in which the strengths of the university in its various aspects were projected with the number of global tie-ups where CU-UP had established world network connections and the achievements of academic excellence.

Dr. Atul Kumar, Head of EGov at Chandigarh University, explained the smooth, comprehensive use of technology in academics and administration, student services, and governance at the university.

The students were then addressed by Dr. Gurminder Kaur, Associate Dean, Department of Student Welfare & Engagement, about the different initiatives and support systems in place to maintain the well-being and active participation of the students outside the classroom space.

Research & Innovation, which was led by Prof. Om Prakash Dwivedi, Director, Humanities and Liberal Arts, urged students to be open to interdisciplinary research right at the very beginning and participate in the research that aligned with the national and international priorities.

  • Dr. Brijendra Kumar Yadav, Director, Faculty of Legal Studies - Department Leadership (Legal Studies)
  • Prof. Om Prakash Dwivedi, Director, Humanities and Liberal Arts - Department Leadership (Journalism and Mass Communication)

In general, the Orientation 2025 at CU-UP was an effective starting point for a student's career, providing them with the right directions, motivation, and a feeling of belonging. The orientation not only set the tone for the year ahead but also reaffirmed Chandigarh University’s commitment to nurturing future-ready professionals.
