Students of Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, Secured First Place at the National Space Day 2025 Celebrations

Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, students secured first place at the National Space Day 2025 celebration, held on August 23rd at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Convention Center, Lucknow. This is not an ordinary win but the first jewel embedded in a list, which shows that there’s many more to come. With this win, it also proves the academic and research excellence of Chandigarh University’s Uttar Pradesh Campus.

The event was jointly organized by the Remote Sensing Applications Center (Uttar Pradesh), Lucknow and the Indian Society of Geomatics, Lucknow Chapter. The event witnessed a gathering of leading scientists, educators, and students across the country. The event focused on encouraging space vision among the youth and highlighting India’s advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and satellite technologies.

Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, stood out amongst prestigious institutions, reflecting its commitment to shaping the future innovators and leaders in the domain of space science. CU-UP’s first-place victories in both poster and quiz competitions are a testimony to students’ creativity, scientific acumen, and practical problem-solving approach. Competing against top institutions, CU-UP reaffirmed its solid position as a center of excellence, innovation, and the research domain. This victory is a sheer dedication to progressing in the emerging field of science and technology.

Senior ISRO scientists Dr. K.C. Bhattacharya and Dr. D.K. Mishra showcased India’s space journey and the growing application of NavIC, India’s very own regional satellite-based navigation system. The event also focuses on the future of human-robot collaboration in missions such as Gangayaan, with AI-powered humanoids like Vyommitra, designed at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and developed by ISRO, making a transformative leap in exploration. Along with this, scientists of the S.K.Y. foundation emphasized the importance of Astrography and citizen science.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, Prof. T. P. Singh, underlined the University’s futuristic vision and approach in driving India’s space aspirants, highlighting how Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Interdisciplinary research will redefine opportunities for young scientists and innovators. Further, he added, ‘The achievements at National Space Day not only mark a proud milestone for CU-UP but also inspire others to contribute meaningfully to India’s mission of advancing from Aryabhatta to Gangayaan, a journey that bridges ancient wisdom with limitless modern possibilities.’ With a spirit of innovation and a future-focused approach, Chandigarh University, U.P., continues to nurture talent that will lead India’s scientific and technological frontiers on the global stage.

In the end, the event was summed up by Dr. Sangharsh Rai, Secretary, ISG Lucknow Chapter, by thanking the fellow members, dignitaries, and congratulating the winners, CU-UP.
