Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh - India’s first AI-Augmented Multidisciplinary University, had launched the Centre of Excellence in Smart Healthcare during the one-day symposium on ‘AI in Governance: Policy, Practice, and People-Centric Transformation’. The launch of CoE reflects the dedication of CU Uttar Pradesh to support the government of Uttar Pradesh’s vision of amalgamating artificial intelligence into healthcare systems to improve public service delivery & bring greater good
The Centre of Excellence in Smart Healthcare aims to improve healthcare accessibility, efficiency, and responsiveness with advanced AI technologies and will be led by Prof. (Dr.) Thipendra P Singh, Professor of AI and Pro Vice Chancellor, CU UP. During the symposium, he emphasized the need to align innovation with real-world healthcare challenges during the event.
The symposium was addressed by Ex-IPS, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Social Welfare, UP Government, Sh. Asim Arun Ji, who praised the university’s consistent effort toward AI-driven initiatives and also highlighted the CoE in Smart Healthcare Centre as a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the state.
During the symposium, the university added yet another significant milestone with the launch of an AI Ethics Training Programme in collaboration with upGrad under its literacy initiative. Under this program, over 1.50 lakh youth in Uttar Pradesh will be trained over the next five years, while focusing on responsible and inclusive use of AI, and this initiative will be supported by the university’s advanced AI infrastructure, which is powered by 168 GB GPU memory built on NVIDIA Blackwell Architecture.
The symposium, with the aim of boosting AI-driven governance, hosted two crucial panel discussions, which were ‘AI Use Cases in Government: From Vision to Implementation’ and ‘Roadmap for AI-Enabled Governance,’ and brought together experts from academia and industry to explore how AI can improve citizen-centric governance. What makes this symposium even more important is that all the recommendations from it will be submitted to the UP government for further development in the policies.
During the symposium, the Guest of Honor, Dr. Amitabh Tewari, Head, Tata Consultancy Services (Lucknow & Indore), mentioned that the growth of Chandigarh University in Uttar Pradesh is contributing to an evolving ecosystem that is comparable to cities like Bengaluru and Chennai. Along with this, he added that institutions that will focus on AI can drive entrepreneurship and support India’s development, just as CU UP is doing.
Dr. Rahul K Singh, CEO, Innovation Cell, GIMS, Greater Noida, who was a special Guest at the symposium, briefly mentioned that the AI solutions must be clinically validated, safe, and guided by medical professionals & along with this, he highlighted the role of incubation centers for healthcare in supporting startups with the right mentorship and data.
