Chandigarh University UP Empowered Academic Aspirations Through Scholarships Worth ₹50 Crore Under CUCET

There are moments that define what a university really stands for, & the CU Scholars' Summit 2026 - Recognising Merit, Excellence & Achievement, held at the Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh campus in Unnao, clearly showed the intent & vision.

Over two days, 1,500 meritorious students from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand walked into a space that was built for them, not just as applicants, but as future builders of the country. They came as scholarship winners & left with something more.

What Brought 1,500 Students to Unnao UP?

Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh, through its scholarship initiative worth up to ₹50 crore for the academic session 2026-27 through CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test), facilitated students who performed exceptionally well, & among them, many were awarded scholarships of up to 100 per cent.

The CU UP Scholars' Summit 2026 was organised to do something institutions rarely take the time to do, which is to celebrate those students by name, in person, on a stage that matched the weight of their achievement. At the event, more than 1,000 engineering students were honoured on the first day by the Honorable Chief Guest Shri Asim Arun, Ex-IPS, Minister of State (Independent Charge) - Department of Social Welfare & SC/ST Welfare, UP.

The 2nd day, which is also the concluding day, carried the kind of energy that comes when the right people share the same room.

Shri Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh, attended as Chief Guest on the 2nd day of the event. Shri Satnam Singh Sandhu (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Chancellor, Chandigarh University), Prof. (Dr.) Vinith Kumar Nair (Vice-Chancellor, CU UP) and Prof. (Dr.) T.P. Singh (PVC, CU UP) were among the important personalities present at the event.

The summit also brought together a remarkable luminaries of industry voices such as Mr. Aman Gupta (Co-founder of boAt and Founder of Off/Beat), Dr. Shailesh Kumar, (EVP and Chief Data Scientist, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited), Ms. Aswathy Venugopal (Senior Director, Cognizant Technology Solutions), Mr. Arpit Trivedi (Senior Vice President, Hitachi Systems India Private Limited), Ms. Aparajita (Government Advisory on Climate Change & Sustainable Development and Public Policy at StartInUP), Ms. Radhika Pant (Group CHRO, Shyam Spectra Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Hardeep Singh Bhamrah (AGM HR, HCL Technologies Ltd.), actor and singer Mr. Aparshakti Khurana and celebrated singer Ms. Asees Kaur.

Each of them brought something the students needed not theory & speech but inspiration, suggestions & lived experience.

What the Experts Said and Why It Was Important?

The industry sessions covered digital infrastructure, enterprise technology, AI, and what it genuinely takes to build a career in engineering today. The message was consistent: a degree opens a door, but it does not carry you through it because practical skills, the ability to solve real problems, and the willingness to keep learning are what separate the prepared from the rest.

On AI specifically, our scholars got to know that every sector is going to look different in five years, & whosoever invest in new-age skills now is the one who will be standing at the front of that change, not scrambling to catch up.

Shri Yogendra Upadhyay: "India's Youth Are Not Just Learning - They Are Creating":

Minister Shri Yogendra Upadhyay Ji spoke his heart out about what he saw on campus & said, "This is not merely a university, but a remarkable institution dedicated to identifying talent, nurturing it and preparing young minds for nation building. I am truly impressed by the innovations and research models showcased by students here," he said. He pointed specifically to student innovations on display - including a concept around generating electricity through footprints as proof that something deeper than classroom education is happening at CU UP.

Connecting the university's approach to the National Education Policy 2020, he noted that Chandigarh University UP is doing the thing by making education functional, technology-forward, and grounded in national purpose. "Patriotism is not confined to protecting the country's borders but also about contributing to national progress through knowledge, innovation and meaningful work," he added. He also spoke about the growing importance of Uttar Pradesh as a higher education destination, and the role institutions like CU UP are playing in that shift.

Shti Satnam Singh Sandhu: "No Deserving Student Should Compromise on Their Aspirations"

Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu spoke about CUCET not as an exam but as a mission & said, "Our scholarship initiative ensures that no deserving student is forced to compromise on aspirations due to financial constraints," he said. The answer is straightforward: every parent hopes their child reaches further than they did. That aspiration deserves more than goodwill; it deserves a real pathway.

He also spoke honestly about where the world is heading with Gen Z students; he said they carry bigger and more global ambitions than any generation before them. AI is already reshaping the environment they are entering. "The coming years will witness technology becoming powerful enough to enable individuals to achieve what once required entire organisations," he noted.
