The iOS Development Centre at Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, was Inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), which marked another feather in one’s cap toward the futuristic education & vision of CU-UP - A Strategic Investment Toward Future-Ready Education. This lab is designed to inspire innovation, creativity, and strong technical skills within Apple’s advanced ecosystem. The centre features 50+ latest iMac systems along with Xcode, Swift, ARKit, and other development environments. This gives students and faculty the platform to transform their ideas and create applications and digital solutions for the world that meet global standards. The vision of the centre goes far beyond providing access to new technology. It is a shift toward future-oriented learning, advancing the university’s mission to achieve global excellence, provide practical industry-driven training to students, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Current Activities in the Lab

Inside the lab, students are currently engaged in developing iOS projects, working on AI and ML-enabled applications, and using Apple’s creative design tools. Some of the active and notable project examples include a Campus Navigation App, an AR-Based Interior Design Application, a Smart Agriculture Monitoring App, and a Sentiment Analysis and Mental Wellness Tracking App. These projects show how the iOS Development Centre encourages both technical capability and real-world problem solving for the students.

A wide range of software tools are available in the centre. For development, students use Xcode, Swift, Swift Playgrounds, CoreML, Create ML, and TensorFlow (Mac version). For AR/VR and 3D work, they explore ARKit, Reality Composer, and RealityKit. Creative design projects are supported through Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Procreate, Final Cut Pro, GarageBand, and Motion. Productivity and collaboration tools such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Notion, and Trello help students manage and present their ideas professionally.

Integrated projects across departments are also encouraged at the iOS Development Center, CU-UP. Students work on UI & UX design, interface animation, ML integration for health monitoring, AR-based educational tools & Virtual tours (where students sitting at the CU-UP campus can explore the famous places of Italy, or New York for geographical knowledge), collaborative research involving engineering, healthcare, design, & agriculture domain.
