A smooth registration process began the day with the arrival of students and their parents, and CU-UP’s warmth and hospitality set the tone for the orientation. The distribution of welcome kits made sure that everyone felt part of the CU-UP family from the very first moment.

The ceremony formally began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a tradition that symbolized wisdom and enlightenment. This was followed by a powerful audio-visual film titled “CU-UP’s Vision: Global Benchmarks & Local Impact,” which showcased the university’s mission to blend world-class education with meaningful societal transformation.

Inspiring Words, Powerful Ideas

The formal proceedings started with a welcome note by Dr. Thipendra P. Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, who guided students through the academic roadmap and talked about the university’s outcome-based learning model and the high standards of CU-UP in teaching, innovation, and student development.

Three keynote speakers from diverse fields brought depth and perspective to the event:

  • Mr. Manish Nigam, Secretary, DLSA (Unnao): Emphasized the importance of legal awareness in a functioning democracy with Artificial Intelligence.
  • Dr. Naseem Ahmed Siddiqui, Senior Principal Scientist (Scientist F), Head, Business Development & IP Unit: Encouraged students to pursue research, innovation, and IP creation as meaningful contributions to society.
  • Dr. Amit Shukla, media expert and academician: Discussed the power of media in shaping narratives and driving social impact with the integration of AI.

Discovering the CU-UP Ecosystem

From global collaborations to advanced infrastructure, the orientation also included a session titled “University at a Glance” by Prof. Ajay Kumar Yadav, Registrar, Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh. His presentation highlighted why CU-UP emerged as a rising force in India’s higher education landscape.

Dr. Atul Kumar, Head of E-Governance, explained how digital systems blended seamlessly into campus life, from academics to administration, and said that technology stood at the heart of CU-UP’s functioning.

Dr. Gurminder Kaur, Associate Dean, Student Welfare and Engagement, outlined the various platforms, clubs, and services available to support students in all aspects of university life.

The Research & Innovation session was briefed by Prof. Om Prakash Dwivedi, who encouraged students to look beyond textbooks and nurture a mindset of curiosity and discovery from day one.
